It was time to get back to work today for all of us. Husband back to online work. Tomorrow, K goes back online, so she got her room all cleaned up and ready to go. The Christmas stuff has been put away, although I wouldn't be surprised to stumble across something we have overlooked.
One goal I have for this year, is to knit 12 pairs of socks in 12 months. I got a start on New Year's Day and realized I had twisted the cast on! That was a new one for me - they always say, "be careful not to twist when you join the yarn," and yep, that was what I did. I kept looking at it, wondering why it looked so wonky, finally figured it out, luckily I was only about 10 rows in. So that got ripped out and restarted, using my hand dyed yarn. The pattern is Men's Ribbed Socks with French Heel and Flat Toe - a very long name. It is an old Paton's pattern. My husband likes his socks on the long side for under his boots, so these are perfect. Below is the corrected beginnings of some long socks. 4 inches of K1,P1 ribbing upcoming.
Isn't that a cute yarn bowl? My oldest son got it for me a couple of years ago and it really is so useful. And since I love birds....well, that just makes it perfect!
On the work front, I dyed a couple sock skeins in teal, and I painted a couple of sock skeins in teal and black. I am hopeful the teal and black will turn out really cool. If not, they will turn out really weirdly muted. I am really looking forward to making up some worsted weight skeins tomorrow. Which brings me to my second goal, continuing hand dyeing and hand painting yarn and offering them on my Etsy shop. I am thrilled that I surpassed my sales goal last year. And I am so happy and feel so blessed to be able to continue on this journey.
And even shy Shinobi was excited to see me back in the dyeing studio. Well, she doesn't actually get excited over much, except food. Let's just say I was allowed to pet her today.
My last goal actually relates to my yarn journey, which is blog and post on Instagram more regularly! So be sure to continue to check back here and follow me on Instagram.
Enjoy!
